Three Chicago men have been formally charged with carjacking and firearm offenses, an indictment issued by a federal grand jury reveals. Marquell Davis, 22, Ramone Bradley, 26, and Edmund Singleton, 34, stand accused of coordinating to violently take possession of two vehicles—a luxury Infiniti Q50 and a BMW X6—on November 3, 2022.
In an incident the indictment detailed, Davis reportedly wielded a gun during the theft of the Infiniti at a Roseland neighborhood gas station. Following this, both Bradley and Davis are alleged to have been armed when they tried to forcefully acquire a BMW later that same day, though this attempt ultimately failed, as per an announcement by the U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of Illinois.
While all three accused are currently under custody, Davis and Singleton could be facing a range from a mandatory minimum of seven years to life imprisonment. Bradley's potential maximum sentence stands at 30 years. Arrangements have been set to fully start to unfold on November 5, before U.S. District Judge Matthew F. Kennelly. The Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, Morris Pasqual, alongside FBI and CPD representatives, made the indictment public. "The public is reminded that an indictment is not evidence of guilt. The defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt," quotes the statement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Margaret A. Steindorf is slated to represent the government's interests in the upcoming trial.
