The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District reported to the scene around noon in the 13400 block of Davis Road to find a multi-vehicle accident, where a black sedan was ablaze, and a child was entrapped inside a silver SUV.

The intensity of the fire took the lives of two occupants in the sedan, those identities are yet to be released. The driver of the SUV also perished at the scene. Amidst this chaos, the child was reported to have sustained “serious injuries,” and received rapid medical attention, being airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood for treatment, as stated by fire officials.

In a statement obtained by CBS News, a third vehicle in the incident, a Jeep, was hit by debris from the collision, however, its passengers remained unharmed and did not require medical attention. The exact cause of the crash, which led to this grim outcome, is currently being investigated by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
