Trader Joe's is set to open a new store in San Diego County, with its doors officially opening to the public in Poway tomorrow, according to a report from Patch. The store, located at the corner of Midland and Poway roads in Poway City Centre, spans just under 10,000 square feet and joins the community with a promise of fresh, affordable options for grocery shoppers.
Store manager Frank Bennett spoke about the opening, saying, "We are excited to be opening more stores in San Diego County. We feel the community and location in Poway are a great fit. We have an awesome crew ready to serve and welcome our customers, and we're grateful to be a part of the neighborhood," he stated through Patch. Over 70 new jobs will be created as the store hires locally, alongside 20 experienced transfers from neighboring stores to bolster its team.
The Poway branch will continue Trader Joe's tradition of community engagement through its Neighborhood Shares Program, committing to donate 100% of unsold products to neighborhood non-profit organizations. Reflecting on the chain's growth in Los Angeles in 1967, which has since stretched to over 550 stores across 42 states and Washington, D.C., the new store is a testament to Trader Joe's continued expansion and dedication to accessible grocery retail.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is on the calendar for 8:55 a.m. on Nov. 8. The store will operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily at 13644 Poway Road. Further details can be found on the Trader Joe's website.
