Attempted carjacking in Slidell has resulted in the arrest of two 18-year-old suspects, one of whom allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times. According to the FOX8 Live report, Kemond Crawford and Ca’ryane Anderson were taken into custody yesterday, after a man suffering from head and neck stab wounds alerted the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office to the incident.
The victim, who was tending to his yard when approached for a bicycle, offered Crawford a ride to Slidell Manor instead, the Sheriff's Office stated. During their journey, they picked up Anderson. Upon arrival, the situation escalated when Crawford allegedly attacked the man with a knife from the backseat. As the confrontation unfolded, the injured man locked himself in his vehicle and escaped to seek medical attention.
Further details revealed by WGNO added that after the stabbing the two suspects exited the car, which allowed the victim to drive himself to a hospital. The description provided by the victim led authorities to Crawford and Anderson, who were found walking around Slidell Manor and apprehended.
The two are now facing charges of attempted second-degree murder and attempted carjacking. During the follow-up, it was discovered that an altercation between Crawford and Anderson also took place, although details of that dispute remain unclear. In a statement given by the victim to WDSU, he detailed the attack and subsequent sequence of events that led to him getting to the hospital, where he received care for his injuries.
The investigation continues as the suspects remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
