Memphis Police Department has confirmed the arrest of two suspects, Laquarius King, 26, and Daibrieell Mackie, 30, following a high-speed police chase that ended with a multi-vehicle crash in Bartlett. The pursuit began after a reported business robbery at a gas station, and the suspect’s car, a gold Mitsubishi Mirage, was later spotted initiating the chase.

According to Local Memphis, the incident unfolded just after 2:20 p.m. when the male suspect allegedly entered the Star Shell gas station on Appling Road in Memphis, fired a shot, and demanded money from the clerk. After obtaining a bag of cash, both suspects fled in their vehicle. MPD’s attempt to stop the suspects turned into a pursuit, leading into the nearby city of Bartlett.

The chase ended when the suspects’ vehicle was involved in a crash at the intersection of Summer Avenue and Memphis-Arlington Road, as reported by WREG News. Along with the collision involving their gold Mitsubishi Mirage, two other vehicles were struck including a red Chevy Camaro driven by a local high school student. The student, Jacob Carter, recalled trying to move out of the way of the suspects but ended up getting struck, resulting in damage to his car.

Following the collision, King and Mackie attempted to evade arrest on foot but were subsequently apprehended, with the Bartlett Police offering assistance, details surface from Action News 5. MPD clarified that the suspect fired a shot at the robbery scene, however, there were no injuries due to the gunfire, and police officers did not discharge their weapons.

Witnesses to the incident voiced their shock at the crime escalating into their community. Johnathan McMillen, who witnessed the chase, recorded it on video, told WREG News, “Don’t come to Bartlett with your high-speed chase, people.”

King faces charges including aggravated robbery, reckless endangerment, and evading arrest on foot, whereas Mackie has been charged with aggravated robbery, intentionally evading arrest in a vehicle with risk of injury to a third party, and evading arrest on foot.
