Two separate but apparently related shootings occurred within close proximity on Campbellton Road SW in Atlanta, leaving two men injured. The first incident took place on Tuesday, at about 9:32 PM, when officers arrived at 2343 Campbellton Road SW responding to reports of a person shot. They found a 45-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his chest and shoulder. Despite his injuries, the victim remained alert and conscious, and after initial treatment on the scene, he was transported to the hospital, according to the Atlanta Police Department report.
Shortly after the first shooting, a second one was reported at 2328 Campbellton Road SW. A 24-year-old man had been shot, sustaining injuries to his hand and hip. Like the earlier victim, this man was also alert, conscious, and breathing when the officers arrived and was immediately taken to the hospital. Investigators believe that these two shootings may be connected.
The Aggravated Assault Unit was dispatched to the locations to determine what had happened and to piece together the events leading up to the injuries of these two men. The preliminary inquiry into these incidents suggests a potential link, though the exact nature of that relationship has not been disclosed. As the investigation continues, the police have not yet provided information on suspects or a motive for the attacks.
