
Two Oakland men, aged 53 and 58, died in a tragic car crash near Tracy, California, on Thursday afternoon. The head-on collision occurred around 3:20 p.m. on Tracy Boulevard when a 39-year-old man from Lodi drove a Subaru across the double yellow lines and hit a Mercedes coming from the opposite direction, according to ABC10.
Authorities found both occupants of the Mercedes had critical injuries, resulting in their deaths at the scene. Their identities have not been released. As further detailed by KCRA, the Subaru driver was arrested before receiving treatment for minor injuries at a hospital, but the charges against him have not been disclosed by the California Highway Patrol.
The stretch of Tracy Boulevard where the accident occurred was shut down temporarily as the California Highway Patrol conducted its investigation into the circumstances leading up to the collision. The roadway was subsequently reopened around 6 p.m. that same evening, as noted in the ABC10 coverage. The California Highway Patrol has explicitly mentioned that neither drugs nor alcohol were considered factors in the crash.
