Yesterday evening, police responded to reports of a shooting at a gas station on Flat Shoals Road near I-20. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, a 19-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his back and was hospitalized in critical condition. Authorities later located a 17-year-old girl on Bouldercrest Road with a gunshot wound to her knee, which they believe is linked to the shooting on Flat Shoals Road.
During the chaos, a woman was accidentally run over by another woman trying to escape the scene. The injured woman sought cover and sustained neck and rib injuries, and she was transported to a hospital for treatment. The incident was further highlighted by witness reports shared with Channel 2 Action News, which described a shootout at the gas station, with people fleeing shortly after the gunshots were fired.
During the frantic attempts to find safety, an unintended event occurred, as one witness described her experience. "Somebody got shot and I ended up running over a lady by mistake," the witness told Channel 2 Action News.
The Atlanta Police Department has not yet released the names of those involved or provided a statement regarding potential suspects. The investigation is being conducted by APD's Aggravated Assault Unit as the community seeks answers following the event.
