Crafting enthusiasts and aspiring artists of all ages, buckle up and get ready to dive into a myriad of art classes this fall, as released in a recent Eden Prairie Art Center bulletin. The season is ripe for exploring your creative potential, whether you're a preschooler starting to explore shapes and colors or a senior citizen looking to master the art of fused glass.
For the tiny tots, accompanied by an adult, there's a line-up of Saturday classes including the "Pre-K Creative Play" that will see children creating everything from 'bright blue bird' crafts made from tissue paper to designing their own "Trick or Treat Bags". For those looking to not only artfully color their worlds but to also hear a good story, there's the "Preschool Art and Story Time," taking place on Mondays. But remember that come Thanksgiving week, classes will be taking a brief hiatus.
The after-school scene is just as interactive, with art mixes for 8–12-year-olds and an opportunity for 11–15-year-olds to "Explore Painting,” while 6–9-year-olds can fantasize and craft "Fantastical Creatures." Once the school bell rings, there's ample room to learn and grow, from a bird collage to creating your very own ceramic unicorn, with sessions neatly packaged into twice-weekly installments.
Teenagers and adults aren't left out of the artistic frolic with workshops like "Welcome to the Wheel – All Skills," a hands-on introduction to pottery for those 16 and older, and "Intermediate Watercolor Painting" for ages 15 and up. For those looking to broaden their painting horizons, "Brushstrokes and Beyond: Explore Painting Mediums and Styles" will be available on Thursday evenings. Let's not forget to mention the festive, end-of-year "Art Center Adult Open House," a free event slated for December 13th. You can bet there will be adult beverages for the grown-ups to sip while shopping for unique, handmade goods.
All programs require pre-registration, so those itching to get their creative splurge on should head on over to the Eden Prairie Recreation's site for more details. And for those who like their updates fast, there's the option to text "EP ART" to 468311 to receive timely Art Center updates.
