The Clark County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating what they refer to as a "suspicious death" in Vancouver, Washington, as a homicide. Officers and medical services were dispatched to a residence in the Lakeshore area on the night of Tuesday following a report of an unresponsive woman. This case was initially treated as a medical call. Still, it was later classified as a potential criminal incident after the unresponsive woman was found dead at the scene, as reported by KOIN.
The incident occurred near Northwest 26th and 99th Street, where Patricia Jimerfield, a 78-year-old woman, was found deceased. Stephanie Ayersman, Jimerfield's daughter, expressed grave concerns as per the KGW report after being unable to reach her mother by phone, prompting her to ask her aunt to check on Jimerfield. "And she found her dead," said Ayersman. The nature of the scene led Ayersman to believe her mother had been brutally attacked. "My mom was the sweetest most caring person," Ayersman recalled of Jimerfield, a retired nurse and a doting figure in the lives of her great-grandchildren.
Family members are struggling to come to terms with the loss of Jimerfield, notably her grandson, Jordan Sullivan, who was there to comfort Ayersman. "You watch a TV show about it, see a movie, but it's just not, it's not something that's real," Sullivan said, per KATU, expressing disbelief over the surreal nature of the tragedy that has befallen a woman known for her generosity. Meanwhile, the Clark County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit is actively involved, with detectives having spent considerable time at the residence into the early morning hours after the incident.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding Jimerfield's death. The Sheriff's office has yet to release further details as they piece together the events that led up to the incident.
