A tragic incident on the streets of Park City claimed the life of a pedestrian late Saturday evening. The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 53-year-old Steven Crockett from Waukegan. According to a report by WGN-TV, Crockett was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the 3200 block of Belvidere Road at around 11:36 p.m.
Authorities were called to the scene to find a 2016 Honda that had collided with Crockett, who police say was crossing the street at that time. Tragically, he was pronounced dead right there at the scene. An autopsy conducted on Tuesday revealed that Crockett died from blunt force injuries sustained during the crash, said authorities, as detailed by FOX 32 Chicago. It has been pointed out by police that Crockett was wearing all dark clothing when the accident occurred.
The driver of the Honda was reported to have stopped in the center median following the collision. As of now, the Park City Police Department and the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) are diligently working to investigate the specifics of this incident.
