Waurika, a small city in Jefferson County, is grappling with the arrest of its city manager, Charles Kyote Dunn, 30, on charges of child sexual abuse. KSWO reports that the arrest followed an investigation initiated earlier this year after the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office enlisted the help of the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation to look into a potential sex offense. Dunn, also a Reserve Police Officer for the Waurika Police Department, became the prime suspect in the case.
On January 11, special agents conducted an interview with Dunn and executed a search warrant at his residence, which led to the confiscation of several electronic devices. Following the analysis of the seized devices, the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation found child sexual abuse images, according to OKC FOX. The discovery of such disturbing content on Dunn's devices adds a layer of complexity to his role as an individual once entrusted with community safety and administrative oversight.
In wake of the findings, the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office has charged Dunn with possession and manufacture of child sexual abuse material. News 9 notes that the charges against Dunn have escalated to include the alleged manufacture of illicit content, notwithstanding an already severe accusation of possession.
Dunn was booked at Stephens County Jail, and the legal process is ongoing. The Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation to ensure everything is handled properly.
