The streets of Atlanta will experience closures this weekend from 9:00 a.m. on Friday, until 5:00 a.m. on Monday. Specifically, 4th Street NW will be closed between W. Peachtree Street NE and Peachtree Street NE, and Cypress Street NE will be closed from 3rd Street NE to 5th Street NE. According to the Atlanta Department of Transportation, these closures are necessary for the removal of a tower crane at 736 Peachtree NE.
While vehicle access will be limited, the sidewalks on the north side of 4th Street NW and the west side of Cypress Street NE will remain open for pedestrians. Detours have been established for drivers, including several turns on nearby streets to help maintain smooth traffic flow around the affected areas.
For those traveling through the area, expected detours will redirect westbound traffic on 4th Street NE to Peachtree St NE, then to 3rd St NE, and back to W Peachtree St NW toward 4th Street NE again. Southbound drivers on Cypress Street NE will be redirected to 5th St NE, then to Peachtree St NE, where they can either return to 4th St NE or continue to 3rd St NE. Northbound and westbound traffic on W Peachtree St NW and 3rd Street NE will also experience similar diversion patterns.
For more information or concerns regarding the weekend road closures, the public can contact the Atlanta Department of Transportation directly via email at [email protected]. The department has indicated that it will be available to assist and respond to any inquiries during the crane removal process.
