According to a report by Action News 5, the incident occurred around 5:35 p.m. near Walnut Grove Road. The victim managed to drive herself to St. Francis Hospital, despite her serious wounds.
Memphis Police Department quickly cordoned off all westbound lanes between Walnut Grove and Poplar Avenue to conduct a meticulous search for evidence, including shell casings, as per the same report. This closure contributed to significant traffic delays before lanes were eventually reopened.
