A 46-year-old woman sustained injuries from a stabbing incident in the Fairgrounds neighborhood yesterday afternoon. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's District 4 has actively begun to investigate the occurrence that unfolded near a liquor store on the 4100 block of N. Grand at approximately 2:50 p.m.
The victim, who has yet to be identified, recounted to law enforcement that she was approached by a female assailant who demanded to quickly inspect the knife the victim had fastened in her waistband. When the victim refused, the suspect is said to have become violent, attacking her and then taking the knife. "The 46-year-old woman said when she refused, the suspect became enraged, attacked her, and then took her knife," per the statement obtained by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
After the attack, the injured woman went home and called the authorities. Emergency medical services quickly arrived and took her to the hospital. The 46-year-old is being treated for a stab wound to her torso and is in critical but stable condition. Officials are asking the community for help with the investigation.
