A 42-year-old woman was shot in the leg during a robbery attempt on Cass Avenue, St. Louis, as reported by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. The incident occurred early morning yesterday but the details of the event were provided to the public on the following day.
The woman and her 45-year-old boyfriend were busy cleaning out their vehicle when an armed suspect reportedly approached to announce a robbery. The couple decided to boldly challenge the assailant which unfortunately led to a struggle. During the tussle, the suspect's firearm tragically went off and wounded the woman. The assailant subsequently fled by foot from the scene. This narrative was pieced together from statements the couple gave after the woman sought medical attention for her injury.
Following the shooting, the woman was taken to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition as per the SLMPD statement. Her boyfriend escaped physical harm during the confrontation. As of the report, they were unsure whether the suspect had successfully taken anything during the attempted robbery.
