A 14-year-old boy from Woodburn was arrested late Friday evening after law enforcement traced a school shooting threat on TikTok back to his residence. The Woodburn Police, acting on information from the FBI, detained the boy after a search of his home turned up no weapons, as KOIN reported.
In a coordinated effort detailed by KOIN, after receiving a tip from the social media giant, TikTok, the FBI informed local police of the threat around noon, which led to the officials tracking down the teenager. A search was conducted at the boy's home following parental consent, which found no evidence of weapons. Despite the absence of a physical threat, the teen was nonetheless taken into custody on charges related to the threat he is accused of making.
The middle-school student is now facing a charge of first-degree disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor in Oregon, according to law enforcement sources. After questioning by Woodburn's school resource officer and an FBI agent, the youth was arrested and booked into the Marion County Juvenile Detention center.
