Yesterday, the Worcester Police Department's specialized units apprehended a juvenile male in possession of a 3D printed ghost gun. According to the official press release from the Worcester Police Department, the arrest occurred after detectives from the WPD’s Gang Unit and Crime Gun Intelligence Unit stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Harding Street, a maneuver resulting from a near-accident at Major Taylor Boulevard and Green Street.
As detectives interacted with the occupants, they noticed a juvenile in the back seat who appeared nervous, leading to a closer examination due to the inconspicuous display of ammunition. Upon exiting the vehicle, the juvenile reached for his waistline, where detectives found a concealed firearm that was loaded and within reach, suggesting concerning intentions. The firearm, later identified as a "ghost gun"—a weapon made from parts that can often be purchased separately to evade regulation—was processed by the Crime Scene Unit, as per the Worcester Police Department.
The charges against the juvenile, according to the same press release, include Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Carrying a Firearm Without A License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, and Possessing Ammunition Without an FID Card. Meanwhile, the driver faced citations for an unsafe lane change and a stop sign violation but was allowed to leave the scene along with the front seat passenger.
