Yukon locals are now faced with a yearly decision regarding their emergency medical services with the Pafford Ambulance membership enrollment kickstarting once again. As announced by the City of Yukon, residents have until November 15, to either opt into or opt out of the Pafford EMS ambulance membership, which could be life-and-finance saving decisions.
Beginning in December, those who choose to buy into the program will see $5.65 per month tacked onto their Utility Bill. Without the need for further action, currently enrolled members who are comfortable with the new rate will continue their membership. If changes are to be made, they must be cemented by mid-November, with the new terms commencing at the year’s end.
While the membership does not equate to insurance, it offers some financial protection by covering out-of-pocket costs tied to medically necessary ambulance services – including the costs that typically fall under insurance co-pays. However, as the City of Yukon makes clear, this service does not absolve residents from all ambulance service costs. Without the membership, patrons will be held responsible for the full price of the services rendered.
In an ongoing commitment to provide care for all, irrespective of financial status, Pafford EMS assures that everyone within Yukon city limits needing medically necessary ambulance services will be transported. For those Yukon dwellers pondering over joining or leaving the membership, next year's November will bring around another chance. Until then, once the November 15 deadline passes, the opportunity to opt in or out of the Pafford Ambulance membership will no longer be available until October 2025, as mentioned by the City of Yukon.
