A 10-year-old girl from Antioch became a local hero after her quick reflexes and courageous actions saved her siblings from a potential carjacking. The Antioch Police Department detailed this incident on their social media, sharing how Aliyah leaped to action when faced with an intruder.
The incident occurred when Aliyah's mother momentarily stepped out of the car at the Antioch Florist on Delta Fair Blvd. It was during this brief moment that an unidentified male saw an opportunity to swiftly try to take possession of the vehicle with the children inside. But Aliyah, perceiving the sudden danger, did not hesitate to boldly spring from the back seat to immediately deliver a barrage of punches toward the would-be thief. The assailant, clearly not prepared to be met with such unexpected resistance, quickly abandoned his attempt and fled the scene on foot.
Following the abrupt confrontation, Aliyah and her siblings wasted no time alerting their mother. The police were soon contacted, and officers later visited Aliyah at her home, bearing a gift basket in recognition of her bravery. The Antioch Police Department's post lauded Aliyah's swift actions, emphasizing the eluded crisis thanks to her presence of mind and tenacity.
Further investigation into the incident led to collecting DNA evidence from the car and recovering video footage, which captured a visual record of the suspect hastily escaping. Interestingly, the police noted that Aliyah happens to be the niece of Officer Cruz Guzman, a member of their force.
