Following a series of events that began in August, Santa Rosa detectives have successfully apprehended 18-year-old Juan Carlos Cruz. Cruz is now facing multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, about a disturbing gang-related shooting incident, according to a news release by the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD).
The progression of the case was initiated after a 20-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the face while driving along Sunset Avenue. The swift arrest reflects extended efforts by law enforcement to ensure safety, a sentiment echoed by the department's assurance that "there is no outstanding risk to the community," as reported by Hoodline.
Cruz was captured after investigators were able to analyze evidence from the scene and later locate him at his workplace. Following his arrest, a loaded handgun was found concealed within his satchel, necessitating further testing to confirm if this firearm was the one used in the shooting.
In addition to attempted murder, Cruz's charges include assault with a firearm and multiple other violations about firearms and gang activity.
