A Livingston County community was jolted by an early morning murder in Handy Township. As reported by CBS News Detroit, Michigan State Police are conducting an investigation into the death of a 57-year-old man found in his home, following what a resident described as an argument between two roommates. The incident occurred in the 6000 block of Sargent Road with reports coming in around 1 a.m. yesterday.
Troopers and deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff's Office began to immediately track down the suspect after he apparently fled the scene. It wasn't long before they had to quickly respond to a call involving a man pounding on a door in the 5700 block of Millett Road. According to information obtained by Audacy, this individual was later identified as the 35-year-old Howell man suspected in the murder of his roommate.
The suspect is now in custody, with MSP officials affirming there is no longer a threat to the community. As detailed by the Livingston Daily, the cause of death and possible involvement of weapons are details that Michigan State Police are currently refraining to release pending the ongoing investigation.
