A 51-year-old man was fatally shot in Walnut Park East on Monday morning. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reported the incident occurred in the 5500 block of Thrush. Officers were alerted to the situation at 10:24 a.m. at the intersection of West Florissant and Thrush.
Officers responded to the scene and found a 63-year-old male suspect, who complied with their commands and was detained. The victim, who had a gunshot wound, was found nearby, conscious and breathing. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Departmen, the victim received immediate medical attention.
Emergency Medical Services responded quickly and transported the victim to a local hospital, but he later died from his injuries. His identity has not been released pending notification of his family. The suspect is in custody and could face charges, though the police have not yet shared a motive or any details about the relationship between the victim and the suspect. The investigation is ongoing. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is asking anyone with information to come forward.
