An 81-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle last Saturday morning, as reported by the Atlanta Police Department. The incident occurred around 11:43 a.m. at 3700 Martin Luther King Jr Dr SW, according to a news release from the department. Upon arrival, officers found the elderly pedestrian already deceased at the scene, having succumbed to injuries inflicted by the hit-and-run driver.
The driver responsible for this tragic event fled before law enforcement arrived, prompting an immediate investigation. Zone 4 officers and investigators worked to piece together the events leading to the woman’s death. In the course of their efforts, a 49-year-old male was apprehended and has since been charged with the fatal collision.
