
The Alameda County Sheriff is revisiting a decades-old cold case, seeking help to solve the 1985 murder of Juan Mateo. Known as "John Doe" for years, Mateo was found off Niles Canyon Road, wearing only undergarments and socks, his life cut short by a gunshot.
In 2006, DNA technology identified the victim as 24-year-old Juan Mateo, but his murder remains unsolved. Now, the Sheriff's Office is asking the public for information that could help bring closure to the case. Even small details could provide critical leads.
