An attempted bank robbery escalated into violence when a woman was stabbed at the United Community Bank in Atlanta, as confirmed by the Atlanta police. The incident occurred on Caroline Street NE just before 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. A man reportedly entered the bank, bypassed the customer area, and demanded money directly from an employee.
According to a statement obtained by Atlanta News First, the suspect was informed by the employee that there was no money, leading him to respond with violence, stabbing her and then fleeing the scene. Witnesses at the time of the robbery were not able to provide details of the suspect who mistook the employee's declaration for a refusal.
The employee, suffering from a stab wound, was urgently transported to a local hospital. Emerging reports from FOX 5 Atlanta indicate the victim remained alert, conscious, and breathing despite the seriousness of the incident. Police arrived shortly after the incident at approximately 12:37 p.m., following calls reporting a robbery and stabbing.
