An elementary school teacher in Attleboro has been placed on leave after being accused of slapping two students at Thacher Elementary School. The teacher is currently on leave while the district and local authorities investigate the incident, according to NBC Boston.
Thacher Elementary School administrators contacted the Central Office about an incident at the school. Superintendent David Sawyer said, "Late Tuesday afternoon, Thacher Elementary School administrators contacted Central Office staff regarding a troubling incident that occurred at the school." The district is taking the situation seriously and has removed the teacher from duty. The Attleboro Police Department and the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families are also involved in the investigation, as reported by WHDH.
"Administrators learned that a physical altercation occurred between a teacher and two students in a classroom in which the teacher allegedly slapped the two students." Superintendent Sawyer expressed, "This is disheartening news, as the safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority." The incident is currently under investigation by the school district, law enforcement, and child welfare officials, with no further information available at this time, as stated by WHDH.
