The City of Avondale is rolling out the red carpet to send off its departing city leaders and to usher in new faces to the City Council. Residents are invited to join in two special events, a Farewell Reception for former Mayor Kenn Weise and outgoing Councilmember Veronica Malone, along with a Welcome Reception where Mayor-elect Mike Pineda and newly elected Councilmembers will take the stage, as reported by the City of Avondale.
Coming up on Monday, December 16, from 5 to 7 p.m., the Farewell Reception at Avondale City Hall, located at 11465 W. Civic Center Drive, will give accolades to the service rendered by Weise and Malone. Starting at 5:30 p.m., there will be a formal presentation at the City Council Chamber, which will likely be fraught with emotion and gratitude, offering community members a chance to say their thanks and goodbyes.
Fast forward to January 6, 2025, a Welcome Reception is slated from 5 to 5:30 p.m. at the same location. Post-reception, the air will be thick with anticipation as Mayor Mike Pineda, along with Councilmembers Jeannette Garcia, Gloria Solorio, and Shari Weise, will be ceremoniously installed during the formalities commencing at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council chamber, as detailed by the City of Avondale.
