On Thursday, a Baltimore County man was arrested in connection to a chaotic car rally that spiraled into violence in Philadelphia last September. The Maryland Car Rally Task Force, in tandem with several law enforcement partners, conducted the operation that led to 21-year-old Juawarn Williams' capture in Rosedale, Maryland.
Williams faces multiple allegations stemming from the September 22 incident, with charges including recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, and riot, to name but a few. The coordinated efforts by authorities to locate Williams quickly mark a significant step in curbing the growing concern over illegal exhibition driving events that have, in recent instances, become dangerous. According to a press release from the Maryland Department of State Police, he was taken into custody without incident.
Williams is currently held at the Baltimore County Detention Center, awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania. As the investigation continues, more details on the case and legal steps will be shared.
