As Veterans Day approaches, Barrow County is gearing up to honor the occasion by closing its administrative offices, courts, senior center, and the animal shelter on Monday, November 11. The closure, which aims to pay respect to veterans who have served the nation, will see the temporary shut down of several county services and facilities for the day.
Outdoor enthusiasts, however, won't be left entirely adrift. Even though structures like buildings and athletic fields at Victor Lord Park will not be accessible, the park grounds themselves will welcome visitors. For those looking to stay active, the batting cages, tennis, and pickleball courts are set to stay open for public use, according to the Barrow County official announcement.
In the realm of utilities, essential services aren't grinding to a halt. The Barrow County Water offices will also be closed for the holiday, however, a contingency plan is in place. Essential staff will be on duty, ready to address any water emergency that may arise. Residents experiencing water-related urgencies can dial (770) 307-3014 to reach the on-call staff who will then mobilize to tackle the issue.
