The school, nestled in the Back Bay area and housing about 450 students, became the scene of concern after the man allegedly made unwanted physical contact with several students entering and exiting the educational facility.
Reports from NBC Boston indicate that the unsettling behavior was brought to the spotlight around 11:30 a.m. when officers arrived at the school following complaints. A woman, reflecting the sentiment of alarm that has rippled through the community, shared to NBC Boston, "That's scary, that it's happening right here." WCVB noted instances where the suspect, witnessed on surveillance cameras, touched a student's rear and in another situation, questioned a student’s physical fitness while making inappropriate physical contact.
Both reports highlighted that the incidents had occurred in a highly trafficked area with the latest episode reportedly transpiring around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, according to WCVB. Further raising concern, the man seems to be a repeat offender with previous encounters already flagged to the authorities.
Boston Public Schools, in response, have taken precautionary measures to bolster safety. A statement from the school district emphasized the critical nature of situational awareness and was echoed by police statements suggesting students and families maintain vigilance and report any concerning behavior, "we are also encouraging families to remind students about the importance of being aware of their surroundings and reporting any concerning behavior to their school." School authorities have promised an increased presence of Safety Services around campus in the following days.
