
Yesterday afternoon, the tranquil streets of Melrose were shaken by a troubling act of violence. At approximately 2:55 p.m., near the intersection of Brook Avenue and Westchester Avenue, a teenage girl was abruptly attacked and stabbed in the back with an object that remains unidentified. Emergency services responded swiftly, transporting her to a nearby hospital, according to NYPD officials.
Authorities are actively working to apprehend the suspect behind this shocking incident. The NYPD is seeking the public's help in locating a woman who was seen fleeing the scene, heading eastbound on Westchester Avenue in what appeared to be a desperate attempt to evade capture. As reported by PIX11, the suspect was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and dark pants.
The 14-year-old victim, abruptly caught in an act of violence, was transported by EMS to Harlem Hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition.
In an effort to expedite the search for the suspect, police have released an additional identifying detail: the individual is described as having an afro, as shared by the NYPD in a report obtained by News 12 Bronx.
