Pickleball aficionados in Central Texas have ample reason to rejoice as the region witnesses a continued expansion of facilities dedicated to the nation's fastest growing sport. According to MySA, seven new courts have emerged from Austin to San Antonio, signaling a trend unlikely to slow down. It seems each city's new offerings are managing to satisfy the swelling appetite for the game.
For example, Other Racquet Social Club in East Austin, which first greeted players as a luxury members-only establishment, has reopened on Manor Road as of November 1, embracing a model that caters to a broader public. Patrons can now relish Bill’s legendary burgers from Bill’s Dips, a new food truck unveiled at the site, without the need for a pickleball reservation. As part of Other Racquet's makeover, the bar will feature original cocktails with clever nods to the sport, like "The Sunset Slice." The courts are open for reservations through their website, with a one-time fee of $25 and an hourly rate of $40, as per MySA.
Adding to the fray, The Picklr is spreading its tentacles across Austin and Round Rock with expectations to serve five new locations in these areas over the next year-and-a-half, as reported by CultureMap Austin. The Austin site is poised to unveil a 39,000-square-foot facility with 11 indoor courts. The Round Rock location, though slightly smaller, will introduce eight courts designed for the bustling Pickleball community.
No less significant is the Texas Pickleball Hall, strategically positioned outside San Antonio in Live Oak, which now features 12 indoor courts. This addition complements other regional facilities such as Laird's Hideaway RV Park in Canyon Lake, which recently launched seven new courts, and the Court House in New Braunfels which is poised to bring additional entertainment and sporting venues to the Solms Landing area, MySA noted.
