For residents who want a part in shaping the cityscape, the City of Chandler announces its last call for community engagement in determining the fate of its downtown area. At the heart of this initiative are the final public workshops, equipped with innovative 3D augmented reality sessions that will give locals a hands-on opportunity to interact with and critique the gathered suggestions and envisioned developments for their urban core.
The two remaining sessions, offering a glimpse into the future through a digitally augmented lens, are slated for mid-November at the ASU Chandler Innovation Center. The workshops will run on November 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. and on November 16 from 9 a.m. to noon, according to the city's official announcement. Staff from the city will be on hand to present an up-to-date overview of the Downtown Region Area Plan before participants dive into the virtual lab experience.
The upcoming sessions are the final chance for the public to shape their communal space. The current plan combines two existing guidelines: the South Arizona Avenue Plan and the updated Chandler Redevelopment Element, both dating back to the 1990s and 2000s, as per the City of Chandler.
