An 8-year-old boy was rushed to Phoenix Children's Hospital, yesterday morning, after a statue at the Arizona Biltmore resort toppled onto him. The incident, which occurred in Phoenix near 24th Street and Camelback Road, has left the child in extremely critical condition with a serious head injury, according to ABC15.
The emergency was reported before 9 a.m., bringing in a quick response from nearby Phoenix Fire Station 17. Phoenix Fire Capt. Todd Keller said, "So there was, I was talking to some of the crews, we do have a fire station, right down the street – Phoenix Fire Station 17. Those firefighters did an absolutely fabulous job getting this kid in the ambulance and transported to the hospital really quickly," in a FOX 10 Phoenix interview. Investigations remain ongoing, as police try to determine precisely how the concrete statue fell.
The Arizona Biltmore has released a statement reiterating its dedication to guest safety, "Our top priority is the safety of our guests, and our thoughts are with the family impacted by today's events," as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix. Phoenix police and the resort's representatives are currently reviewing surveillance footage and gathering information to establish accountability.
