Chicago residents are facing a bout of cold weather, with forecasts primarily indicating chilly conditions and little warmth in sight. The current weather trajectory suggests sunny days with high temperatures firmly anchored in the 20s, according to the National Weather Service. The city greeted the weekend with low 20s on the thermometer, and strong winds exacerbated the bite of the cold.
As per the National Weather Service, today's weather in Chicago features mostly sunny skies and a high near 25, with gusts reaching up to 20 mph. Tonight, temperatures are expected to dip to around 14, and the wind chill could drop as low as 1. A similar pattern is forecasted for Sunday, with sunny conditions, but the wind chill values might not surpass zero. The coming Monday shows a slight increase in temperatures, with highs forecasted near 31 under mostly sunny skies.
The frigid conditions don't seem to be loosening their grip on the Windy City, with FOX 32 Chicago reporting that wind chills may not climb much higher through the end of the weekend. Residents are advised to bundle up tightly to endure the outdoors, with a little respite expected on Monday when the sun might coax the mercury a few degrees higher.
The workweek could open with equivalent chills and the potential for snow showers after noon on Tuesday, a possibility still lingering in the evening though significant accumulation is not expected. "Wednesday warms up slightly to near 40°F under mostly cloudy skies before a cool-down returns Thursday, with highs around 30°F," as per FOX 32 Chicago. Residents of Chicago are bracing for a prolonged period of cold, which looks to persist until the next weekend with partly sunny conditions and highs hovering in the mid-20s on Friday.
Both forecasts agree that while there might be momentary rises in temperature, the city will largely remain under the rule of winter’s chill. As such, those in Chicago may need to maintain their layers and winter gear at close reach as December beckons with an icy greeting.
