A fire significantly damaged a home that was under construction in Cleveland, Georgia, on Sunday evening, officials said. The blaze was reported to White County 911 around 5:23 p.m. and had already claimed the garage and half the house by the time firefighting units arrived, according to a report by FOX 5 Atlanta.

Teams from White County Fire Services and Cleveland Fire Department, alongside mutual aid from Lee Arrendale Correctional Institute Fire Services and local agencies, worked together to halt the flames. The construction state of the home presented unique challenges, but firefighters managed to quell the fire before it could spread further, substantially damaging the structure and leaving behind heavy smoke damage, despite their, rapid and coordinated response.

There were two people inside the home when the incident occurred, both of whom escaped the fire without harm. They were evaluated at the scene by emergency medical services and did not require hospitalization, details Now Habersham.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office. White County Emergency Management also deployed its Community Emergency Response Team to assist in recovery efforts. In a novel approach to manage, the situation, a drone was used to provide aerial surveillance and thermal imaging to aid the firefighting strategy.
