The U.S. Coast Guard has ended a multi-day search for two boaters, David Wickenden, 54, and Charles Andrade, 60, who went missing off the coast of Georgia.
As reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, the search began after a boater notified authorities of a capsized 50-foot catamaran found about 65 miles east of Brunswick, Georgia. The Coast Guard, alongside other agencies, scoured an area roughly the size of Vermont in hopes of locating the missing mariners.
Despite the efforts which stretched over three days and included air and sea searches, the two men were not found. Commander Jason Erickson, Coast Guard Sector Charleston search and rescue mission coordinator, said in a sentiment echoed by WSB-TV, "The decision to suspend a search is always difficult to make and never done lightly. When we send our rescue crews out, it is with great hope we can bring people home safely, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the missing boaters during this incredibly difficult time."
