A man and a child were shot near 1371 Kimberly Way SW at the Ashley Cascade apartment complex in southwest Atlanta, according to police. Both victims were alert, conscious and breathing as they were rushed to a hospital, and officers have not identified them or named any suspects.
Atlanta police confirmed the location of the shooting to Atlanta News First, which reported that a department spokesperson said the victims were shot near the Kimberly Way SW address inside the Ashley Cascade complex. The outlet reported that both the man and the child were alert, conscious and breathing while emergency crews transported them to the hospital. Atlanta News First also reported that multiple people fired shots, several shell casings were found, and another male victim had lacerations.
FOX 5 Atlanta similarly reported that officers found a man and a juvenile who had been shot at the complex, with emergency crews transporting both to a hospital while they were awake and breathing. Investigation Still in Early Stages

Investigators have not determined what led up to the shooting, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. No motive or relationship between the victims has been disclosed.
A Complex With a Troubled Pattern
Friday's shooting is not the first act of gun violence tied to this address. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has described Ashley Cascade as the site of multiple previous shootings and named it one of metro Atlanta's persistently dangerous complexes as part of its Dangerous Dwellings investigation, according to the AJC. Hoodline previously reported, citing the AJC, that police logged 248 crimes at the two Kimberly Way addresses between 2017 and mid-2023.
Atlanta police records show a string of earlier shootings at the same address, each a separate incident from Friday's. On April 2, 2026, officers responding to 1371 Kimberly Way SW found a 7-year-old boy who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his right arm, according to the Atlanta Police Department. That shooting, which the department said preliminary investigation indicated was a drive-by, left three apartments damaged by gunfire, and the boy was last reported in stable condition after being taken to the hospital.
On February 19, 2024, officers responded to a report of a child shot at the same address; police said the victim, described in the report as 3 years old, was alert, conscious and breathing when transported to the hospital by ambulance. Two earlier incidents occurred in 2021: on May 21, police found a male victim alert, conscious and breathing with a gunshot wound and said two people were detained at the scene, while on July 1, officers responded to a report of a woman shot inside her apartment after someone outside the building fired into it, leaving her in stable condition at the hospital.
Hoodline also previously reported on a March 16 shooting at Ashley Cascade that wounded a 19-year-old woman, in which surveillance footage reportedly showed multiple armed people fleeing the complex along Kimberly Road.
No arrests have been announced in Friday's shooting, and police have released no suspect information. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact Atlanta police as the investigation continues.
