A recent shooting in North Memphis has resulted in the death of a man, in a community where local activists are tirelessly working to curb such violence. The Memphis Police Department reported that the incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. on Locust Street near Pope Street where they discovered one man had been shot. However, the victim had left the scene seeking medical treatment before police arrived.

According to the FOX13 Memphis interview, a community member named "Rowdy," associated with Memphis Allies—an organization dedicated to transforming dangerous communities into safer ones—expressed his frustration over the shooting. "It don’t make no sense what’s happening," Rowdy said. "It wasn’t like this 10, 20 years ago, so it’s us and a lot of other people out here every other day trying to make change, so we just got to come together."

After the shooting, the injured man was taken to a fire station on Chelsea Avenue. He was subsequently transported to Regional One Hospital in critical condition but later pronounced dead, as noted by the report from WREG News Channel 3. The Memphis Police Department has yet to provide any suspect information, and they encourage anyone with information pertaining to the incident to contact CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
