After a high-speed chase that disrupted Concord residents, felony charges have been laid against the individuals involved in last week's dramatic vehicle thefts and pursuit. According to the Concord Police Department's social media, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has filed multiple felony charges against Alexander Guerrero and Samantha Wheaton, including vehicle theft, reckless evasion of a peace officer, and others.

On Monday, a pursuit ensued following an attempted stop of a vehicle reported stolen from Alameda County. After the suspects abandoned the car, they fled in another vehicle, subsequently identified as stolen. This car later crashed head-on with another vehicle on Willow Pass Road, leading to minor injuries and roadway closures. While Concord Police disengaged before the collision, the chaos led to Guerrero and Wheaton's arrest. Guerrero, with a noted history of violent crimes, was hit with two counts each of vehicle theft, fleeing a peace officer, and possession of a stolen vehicle. In comparison, Wheaton faces two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle.

The event's aftermath wasn't without consequences for the local traffic flow. Willow Pass Road was closed for an investigation for approximately an hour, causing significant delays, as per Hoodline. Both suspects are currently being held in the custody of the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff.
