A construction worker was hospitalized after falling from a ladder at a Bal Harbour construction site, authorities confirmed Tuesday. The incident, which occurred near the 9700 block of Collins Avenue, prompted a response from multiple Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units after the emergency call was received just after 9:00 a.m.
Upon arrival, rescue crews found the worker had plummeted onto the second floor of the building and was unable to move. In a delicate operation, rescue workers employed a stokes basket to safely extricate, the injured person. The worker was then secured onto a backboard before being carefully hoisted down to the ground level for transport, as per details from a WSVN report.
The patient's next trip was skyward—this time via Air Rescue—as they were airlifted to Jackson North Trauma Center for treatment. While the full extent of the worker's injuries remained unclear, emergency services classified the call as a trauma alert, indicating the serious nature of the incident. Aerial footage obtained showed the moment the worker was lowered to the ambulance signaling the urgency and coordinated effort at the scene.
Despite the swift action by emergency services, no further information regarding the patient's condition or identity was made available. The incident has, however, surfaced conversations about the inherent risks of construction work and worker safety protocols. The exact cause of the fall has not been provided, the incident echoes the ever-present dangers within the construction industry. Details of the fall were first noted in an NBC Miami article.
