The community of Dickson County is mourning the loss of 19-year-old Joshua Lugg, a student at Dickson County High School, who tragically died in a two-vehicle collision on Tuesday. The WKRN report states that Lugg was maneuvering a 2012 Nissan Titan on Thompson Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, resulting in his vehicle crossing the centerline and colliding with a 2014 GMC Sierra driven by a 47-year-old.
As details have emerged, the Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed that the Sierra's driver, Randle Dotson, sustained injuries though their current status is unknown. Lugg was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that took place just before 3:30 pm. The affection felt for Lugg within his community is palpable, with tributes focusing on his active involvement in the Dickson County High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter. According to a Tennessean report, the Dickson County FFA honored his memory, stating, "He attended every chapter meeting, showed hogs, competed in events, was a top fruit seller, and attended State Convention with us multiple times."
An outpouring of support and condolences came from the school's FFA, which described Lugg as a hardworking member who was deeply involved in the association's activities. In a heartfelt post on social media, as noted by WSMV, the chapter encouraged the community to support Lugg's legacy by changing their profile pictures to an image attached in the teen's honor.
Lugg’s obituary reflects the sentiments of those who knew him, describing him as a "good ole country boy" who loved spending time outdoors, working with International Harvester tractors and fishing in tranquil waters. To honor his life, visitations are slated for today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with another tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service. In a unique tribute, the family has requested that attendees at the funeral wear no dress clothes and for trucks "a mile long" to join the procession. Committed to assisting in this final send-off, Nick Mayer Chevrolet Buick GMC of Dickson has offered trucks to those wishing to participate who meet specific requirements, as noted by WKRN.
