Early Friday morning in Roxbury, an 18-year-old from Dorchester was arrested by Boston Police officers on charges related to firearm possession, including one count of illegal possession of a large capacity feeding device. Jociel De Los Santos-Santana was detained during a traffic stop conducted by officers from District B-2 after they observed erratic driving behavior, as reported by the Boston Police Department.
According to the details, it was approximately 1:22 AM when the police spotted a vehicle that was speeding up towards Columbia Road. Attempting to initiate a traffic stop, the patrol activated their vehicle’s emergency lights and sirens. Having pinned his right arm to his body and continuously checking his waistband, the front passenger's behavior aroused suspicion among officers. They also noticed a rear passenger not wearing a seatbelt, who failed to present identification upon request.
The situation escalated after the officers asked the vehicle’s occupants to exit, and a pat-down of De Los Santos-Santana led to the discovery of a Glock 19 tucked in his waistband. The police recovered the handgun equipped with an extended magazine, loaded with one chambered round and twenty-nine others ready, bringing the total capacity to thirty-one rounds. Subsequently, De Los Santos-Santana was taken into custody on multiple firearms-related charges.
The young man is set to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court, facing charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, as well as Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device. Officers recovered the firearm from his waistband.
