In a move that's no stranger to locals, several roads are set to close to motorized traffic beginning Monday, December 2. Noted in a recent city announcement, these routine closures are expected to remain in effect throughout the winter season, reopening next spring as conditions permit.
For those planning their commutes or scenic drives, the seasonal shutdown will affect parts of Skyline Parkway, Maxwell Road, and Seven Bridges Road. Specifically, closures will impact Skyline Parkway from just east of Glenwood Street to Maxwell Road, Seven Bridges Road from the Lakeview Chalet to Maxwell Road, and Maxwell Road itself from Skyline Parkway to Oak Street. These segments cater to the eastern expanse of the Skyline Parkway, an area popular for its views, particularly from the Hawk Ridge overlook.
The roads slated for closure aren't the only ones to undergo their winter hibernation. An earlier announcement had already seen a segment of West Skyline Parkway, stretching from south of 100th Avenue W to the city's far western boundary, closed earlier in the season.
