Huey’s, a popular East Memphis restaurant, was temporarily closed on Friday after a kitchen fire broke out at its Poplar Ave. location. The Memphis Fire Department responded quickly, containing the blaze to the kitchen area and preventing further damage. The fire reportedly affected the restaurant’s wooden walls, as reported by Action News 5. No injuries were reported.
The restaurant's management announced on Facebook that Huey’s would reopen by 5:00 P.M. the same day. “We’re happy to say that no one was hurt, and we’re working hard to get everything back up and running so we can welcome you back soon,” the restaurant said in a statement obtained by Local Memphis.
Although the cause of the fire has not been disclosed, staff members emphasized the seriousness of the situation. “No one was injured in the small blaze, which began in the kitchen,” a staff member told FOX13 Memphis. Huey’s quick response and efficient communication highlight its commitment to safety and customer service.
