In a heartfelt effort to support individuals battling cancer, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has once again made a generous contribution to the Circle of Hope program. Sheriff Joseph Roybal presented a check for $6,440 to the UCHealth Memorial Hospital Foundation, sourced from the sale of pink uniform patches and key chains to staff. According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, this contribution marks the continuation of an initiative that began in 2017 and has raised over $45,400 to date.

The Pink Patch Project, which is held annually in partnership with the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 9, has not only helped raise funds but also awareness for the fight against cancer. Despite the commitment shown throughout the community, Sheriff Roybal said, as per El Paso County Sheriff's Office, "I am extremely proud of the generosity of our Office, year after year." He expressed gratitude to both the Fraternal Order of Police and the UCHealth Memorial Hospital Foundation for their unwavering support of this important cause.

As the El Paso County Sheriff's Office dons their pink patches during October, they serve as a moving reminder of the ongoing struggle against cancer, a struggle that leaves no facet of life untouched. The fundraiser aids patients afflicted by more than 30 types of cancer, providing much-needed financial support for prescription medications, medical equipment, and transportation, among other expenses. The Fraternal Order of Police, Colorado Lodge #9, has backed the Sheriff's Office by covering the initial purchase cost of the patches and keychains for 2024.

Crista Muchmore, Senior Development Officer at UCHealth Memorial Hospital Foundation, praised the continuous efforts of the Sheriff's Office. She conveyed her appreciation, saying, "On behalf of the UCHealth Memorial Hospital Foundation and Circle of Hope, I thank the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office for their continued commitment to patients and families battling cancer." The funds, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, go a long way in allowing patients to focus on their healing and family rather than financial burdens.
