
A carjacking attempt occurred on Bailey Avenue and North Garrison Avenue in St. Louis around 4 p.m. on Monday. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, an elderly man was involved in a violent confrontation with two teenagers during the incident.
A 73-year-old man, sitting in his parked vehicle, was approached by two males, aged 14 and 16. The confrontation escalated rapidly, with the teens allegedly pointing a gun at the man and demanding his keys, to which, the man responded by throwing his keys into an adjacent field, prompting a physical altercation. The younger teen's gun discharged, striking his accomplice in the legs, as reported by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
Paramedics transported a 16-year-old to a nearby hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds. His current condition is unknown. A 73-year-old involved in the incident sustained only minor injuries and declined medical help. Police recovered a firearm at the scene, believed to be linked to an attempted robbery. The identities of the teenagers have not been released due to their minor status.
