Two departments in Swansea were called to the scene of a crash on GAR Highway involving a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer on Friday afternoon. The collision, reported to have taken place around 4:55 p.m., drew a swift response from local emergency services, including the police, fire, and ambulance teams.
According to the Swansea Police Department's statement, the tractor-trailer had been hauling pool water when it attempted a left turn onto the highway. The pickup truck then collided with the larger vehicle, causing it to leak a significant quantity of water onto the roadway.
No injuries were reported for the driver of the tractor-trailer, but the situation was more serious for the individual behind the wheel of the pickup. The driver sustained injuries believed to be serious and was subsequently transported to a local hospital by Swansea Ambulance, as informed by Police Chief Mark Foley and Fire Chief Eric Hajder.
