The Farmington community has been struck by tragedy following the discovery of a body confirmed to be that of 19-year-old Mia Casto, who had been reported missing on Saturday. According to ABC4, Casto was first reported missing by her family on Nov. 2 around 12:40 p.m. Authorities found her remains a day later above Farmington City, near Rudd Creek.
Extensive search efforts led by the Farmington City Police Department involved numerous agencies, including the Department of Public Safety and the Davis County Search and Rescue. As obtained by KSLTV, the police department extended its deepest condolences to Casto's family, friends, and loved ones, also expressing gratitude to all those who aided in the search efforts.
The emotional toll of the search on participants was palpable. One volunteer, despite not knowing Casto personally, spoke to the connection felt during the search, reflecting on the moment upon learning the outcome. "It was very emotional," he said, per KSL.com. "I think we all, especially those of us who went up and looked for her this morning, none of us knew her at all. But you feel a connection to her when you're up there looking for her and then find out that she had passed away."
